The menu displays horizontally in the top-right corner of the site by default, but you can switch to showing a vertical sidebar menu if you prefer. You can also set other site options, including a logo, navigation colour, search options and more.

To change the navigation in a site:
Click on the Settings cog along the top of the Site screen
Choose Navigation on the left-hand side of the dialog box
Change the mode from Top to Side as required
To change the search mode to be used on the site, choose to search This Site only, or search all Organisation Content using Google Cloud Search
Click on the close button when complete
You can add a logo to show in the top-left corner of each page in the site, and can add an image to use as a favicon on the browser tab displaying your site.
To set brand options:
Click on the Settings cog along the top of the Site screen
Choose Brand images on the left-hand side of the dialog box
Under Logo, click on Upload to add an image from your computer, or Select to choose an image from Google Drive
Under Fabvicon, click on Upload to add an image from your computer, or Select to choose an image from Google Drive
Click on the close button when complete
You can add an icon to show on each page in your Google Site that visitors can click on to find out the date on which the last edit to that page was made. You can also allow your site viewers to send feedback or ask a question about your site from a standard Content Form that can be viewed from any page on your site.
To set the options to show in the footer:
Click on the Settings cog near the top-right corner of the Sites screen
Click on the Viewer tools option on the left-hand side of the screen
Choose whether to show the time at which the page was last updated
Choose whether to show the contact form
Click on the Close button in the top-right corner of the dialog box
If you use Google Analytics, you can set this up to show analytics for your Google site, such as visitor numbers and geographical locations of your audience.
You will need to set up an analytics ID in Google Analytics, then add it to the Google Site as follows:
Click on the Settings cog near the top-right corner of the Sites screen
Click on the Analytics option on the left-hand side of the screen
Click in the Google Analytics tracking or measurment ID box and enter or paste the ID
Ensure Enable Analytics is set to on
Click on the Close button in the top-right corner of the dialog box
You can create an announcement banner on your site to communicate important messages to your visitors. Information will be displayed in a banner at the top of the home page, or all pages of the site, as required.
Click on the Settings cog near the top-right corner of the Sites screen
Click on the Announcement banner option on the left-hand side of the screen
Click on Show banner to turn the otion on
Set the Banner colour by clicking on the drop-down list and choosing the required colour
Click in the Message box and type up to 150 characters for the announcement
To add a button to click for more information, enter a Button label and Link and choose whether the link should be opened in a new tab
Set the visibility of the banner to show on the Home page only or on All pages of the site
Click on the Close button in the top-right corner of the dialog box
The banner will show on the home page or all pages as set.
