Do I need a Chrome extension to be able to view MS Office files in Google Drive?

No, you can simply double-click on a Word, Excel or PowerPoint file, then click on the drop-down arrow along the top of the screen and choose Google Docs to view the file without converting it from MS Office format. 

Can I use keyboard shortcuts in Google Drive? 

Yes, press ? or Ctrl / at any time in Google Drive to show the list of keyboard shortcuts on screen. 

How can I see which of my documents are taking up the most space? 

Go to the following URL to view documents in your Google Drive in size order, starting with the largest: https://drive.google.com/drive/#quota 

How do I select documents in Google Drive? 

There are a number of ways to select documents in Google Drive:

Can I upload files of other types e.g. PhotoShop or CAD? 

Yes, but these files cannot be converted to Google Docs. You will be able to preview the document in Google Drive by double-clicking on it once it has been uploaded. 

What types of presentations can I upload to Google Drive? 

Any presentation can be uploaded into Google Drive.

If you wish to convert a presentation to a Google Slide presentation, it should be .ppt (newer than Office 95), .pptx, .pptm, .pps, .ppsx, .ppsm, .pot, .potx or .potm format. 

What types of spreadsheets can I upload to Google Drive?

Any spreadsheet can be uploaded into Google Drive.

If you wish to convert a spreadsheet to a Google Sheet, it should be .xls (newer than Office 95), .xlsx, .xlsm, .xlt, .xltx, xltm, .ods, .csv, .tsv, .txt or .tab format.

What types of documents can I upload to Google Drive?

Any document can be uploaded into Google Drive.

If you wish to convert a document to a Google Doc, it should be .doc (newer than Office 95), .docx, .docm, .dot, .dotx, .html, .txt, .rtf or .odt format.

Can I access Google Drive on my computer e.g. through Windows File Explorer?

Yes, you can use Google Drive FIle Stream to access your Google Drive files in File Explorer and the applications running on your computer.  Google Drive File Stream allows you to access all of your Google Drive files on demand, directly from your computer.
