As well as adding Google Workspace elments such as docs, sheets and slides, you can also add elements such as buttons, divider lines and image carousels to a page to support the text on the page.
You can add collapsible headings to a new Google Site, that can be clicked to show more text. This is useful to hide additional text until the user wishes to view it, and can be used in a variety of pages, including FAQs.
Click on the Insert tab on the pane on the right-hand side of the screen
Click on Collapsible text
Click above the horizontal line and type the heading you wish to be able to collapse or expand
Click below the horizontal line and type the text to hide or display when the heading is clicked
Click away from the text
You can add a table of contents to a page that automatically includes all headings and subheadings on a page as links, and will update automatically as you edit the page.
Click on the Insert tab on the pane on the right-hand side of the screen
Click on Table of contents
A table of contents will be added that contains all headings on the page. If you wish to hide a heading from the table of contents, position the mouse over the heading and click on the eye icon.
You can add a carousel of images to your site pages, choosing all of the images that will be displayed in turn in the carousel.
Click on the Insert tab on the pane on the right-hand side of the screen
Click on Image Carousel
Click on the + symbol to add images to the carousel
Choose to Upload image from your computer, or Select image from Google Drive
Choose the images you wish to add to the carousel and click on Insert or Open - you can hold Ctrl and click to select multiple images
Click on the cog in the top-right corner of the Insert Images dialog box to change the carousel options e.g. to show dots, options and to autostart the carousel
Add a caption to an image in the carousel by positioning the mouse over the image, then clicking on the Add text button
Click on Insert to add the carousel to the page
You can add buttons to a site page to quickly add a link to another page or website. When you add a button to a site, it will automatically match the theme of your site, and can be resized as required.
Click on the Insert tab on the pane on the right-hand side of the screen
Click on Button
In the Name box, add the text to appear on the button
In the Link box, type or paste the link that the button should open when clicked. You can also select a page within the site, by scrolling down the list or typing the name of the page you wish to link to
Click on Insert
Click on the button to select it. Once selected, the button can be resized and the toolbar can be used to change the button style between filled, outline or link.
Divider lines can be added to a page to show a thin horizontal line between sections on the page.
Click on the Insert tab on the pane on the right-hand side of the screen
Click on Divider
A divider line will be added to the page and can be dragged up or down as required.
Click on the line, then on the Delete button to remove it.
