You can share documents stored in Google Drive with the person you are having a conversation with in Google Chat. You can also share files from your computer and add emojis to messages.

Use the buttons to the right to add items to your message:

Uploading files

Click on the Upload file button to add a file from your computer. Locate the file you wish to upload, then click on the Open button.

The file will be added to the message box - click on Send to send the file:

Receipients will be able to click on the file to view it in their browser. They will have options to print and download the file.

Sharing files from Google Drive

Click on the icon at the beginning of the message box, then choose Google Drive to add a file from Google Drive. 

Click on the My Drive and Shared drives tabs to add files from your folders, or view Shared with Me and Recent files. Use the Upload tab to add a file from your computer to your My Drive, then  add it to the conversation. 

Click on Select to add the selected file to the conversation.

The file will be added to the message box - click on Send to send the file:

Files shared via Chat from Google Drive will automatically be shared with the receipient, giving them permission to view and comment on the document. 

Adding emojis

Click on the Add emoji icon to add emojis to your message.
